Learning to love yourself
One of the most important parts in living a fulfilling and happy life is to love oneself. By loving oneself, I do not mean arrogance or pride, but rather a deep compassion for the human being that you are. Acknowledging both your flaws and strengths and appreciating every part of who you are.
Loving oneself is by no means an easy task, especially if you have been “speaking to yourself” in a negative and critical way your entire life. This inner voice can be very damaging and very reluctant to give up its position as ultimate authority in your belief system. However, in order to find that peace and love and joy that we all so desperately are wanting, we need to put in the effort to be mindful of this inner voice and to gently correct it when it leads us into harmful ways of thinking.
Thoughts about yourself need to be uplifting, encouraging, appreciative and compassionate…. Almost as though you are seeing yourself through the eyes of a loving parent.
Practicing mindful awareness of this inner voice and gently steering it away from critical thoughts to more loving and compassionate thoughts will transform your experience of yourself and life abundantly.
