Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind which induces relaxation and heightened suggestibility. You have become suggestible, for example, when you think of eating a lemon and your mouth feels sour. In other words, if you can vividly imagine yourself experiencing something, with all the sights, sounds, feelings, smells and tastes associated; and react towards it as though it were real, you would be doing autogenic training, or what is otherwise known as, self-hypnosis. In fact, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The therapist merely aims to facilitate the client in this process.
Hypnotherapy can help overcome negative thoughts, emotions and behaviours, or to imprint beneficial images and positive ideas about oneself and the world. When one activates the subconscious mind through imagery and suggestion, one is able to create greater changes in one’s beliefs, feelings, body and reality, than at the conscious intellectual level. This is because the content of the subconscious mind acts as a script which plays out in one’s life regardless of conscious intention.
THE PROCESS
There are no prerequisites apart from a willingness to use your mind creatively and to fully participate in the process. The first part of the session is used to discuss your problems and goals. Together, we will then work on how hypnotherapy can best help you. After fully discussing the problem, I will lead you gently into a state of relaxation by means of visualization and other suggestion techniques. Once you have responded sufficiently enough to all suggestions, we will then begin the work. Based on our formulated goals and treatment, I will either start offering you positive suggestions towards your current situation or future; or start exploring certain thought-feeling patterns which require understanding and transformation.

FOUND BELOW IS A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SOME OF THE MORE COMMON CONCERNS DEALT WITH IN HYPNOTHERAPY:
Stop Smoking: Sessions are geared at imprinting positive feelings, experiences, benefits and images of being a non-smoker.
Weight-loss: Sessions are aimed at changing thoughts about food and eating by imprinting positive images of a slim healthy body, as well as training the mind to enjoy eating small healthy meals.
Self-confidence: Depending on the key issues involved, sessions aim to improve self-esteem through acknowledgment of self, changing negatives into positives and generating feelings of love, acceptance, appreciation, honour, respect and nurturance of Self.
Motivation and managing procrastination: Sessions are aimed at building focus, clarity, motivation and the efficient use of time, by building the images and feelings of the achievement of goals, efficiency, effectiveness and long-term benefits.
Overcoming fears and phobias: Depending on the nature and severity of the fear or phobia, regression may be used to express and then neutralize all negative feelings associated with the initial traumatizing event. Thereafter, positive images and feelings are imprinted to help one to cope with future circumstances.
Overcoming difficult/painful past events: Sessions involve regression to the specified event which is holding the emotional charge. Talking through the experience, expressing emotions and thoughts and reframing the experience in order to forgive, let go and bring peaceful completion is the aim of these sessions.
Managing depression: Sessions are focused on restoring hope, faith and self-belief through imprinting messages of joy, gratitude, optimism and self-nurturance.
Stress and anxiety: The aim of sessions is to facilitate complete relaxation of body and mind. Hypnotic suggestions focus on trusting oneself and life, staying present and centred, giving time to one self to relax and letting go of unnecessary stressful thoughts and activities.
